According to the team NordVPN which is behind the ultra-secure NordPass password manager, and according to a comprehensive analysis of its database, the password “123456” is the most used and popular than ever in 2020.
This is a review of nearly 275.7 million Passwords which allowed this team to establish a whole list of the most used passwords in 2020 and to publish it for the general public. This list shows that most users of online services tend to use very weak, basic and easy to remember passwords and to hack at the same time!
Topping the list of 200 passwords is the number “123456” which has been used by 2.5Million users online and NordPass confirms that it has been used by more than 23.5M hackers many times! Can you imagine the negligence of people who put their private lives at increased risk of data theft?
Numbers and letters
We also find in the top 10 of this list, the password “111111” in 6th place against the 17th place last year, and regarding passwords in letters, a new word “picture1” appears in the third place in the list and in the fourth place is the word “password”. And finally the passwords in letters, in the 10th place “senha”, which means password in Portuguese.
