How to forward text messages to Android messages

Transferring a text message using the Android Messages app only takes a few steps. You can share text, emojis, images and videos.

Avoid transmitting texts that contain potentially embarrassing personal information or photos of others. While it’s tempting at the time, you can’t resume a text after it’s been read.

  1. Open Android messages.
  2. Select the conversation containing the message.
  3. Touch and hold the message you want to forward. You can select text, links, images or videos – the process is the same for everyone.
  4. Tap the three-dot menu icon.
  5. Select ” Forward “.
  6. Select the conversation in which you want to share the text.
  7. Touch the send icon.

How to share texts from Android messages to other apps

If you want to forward a message from Android messaging to another app, like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger, you can use the share function. You can also share the message in social media, notes, email apps, etc.

  1. Open Android messages.
  2. Select the conversation containing the message.
  3. Touch and hold the message you want to forward.
  4. Tap the three-dot menu icon.
  5. Select Share.
  6. Select the app you want to share. If it’s a messaging app, choose a conversation or start a new one. Shortcuts to Recent Conversations from Android Messages are also on this screen.
  7. The text or image will appear in the message field.
  8. Touch the send icon.

Use copy and paste to share texts

If you are sharing text only, including links, you can use your phone’s copy and paste feature. If a message contains both text and an image, copy and paste may not work.

  1. Open Android messages.
  2. Select the conversation containing the message.
  3. Touch and hold the message you want to share.
  4. Touch the symbol To copy.
  5. Open the other app.
  6. Press and hold where you want to paste the message.
  7. Select Paste.
  8. Press on To send (or Share or To post depending on the application). You might not need to press anything if you’re using a notes app, like in the example above.
