In sport, competition and competition remains the best way to achieve your goals. With the sharing function of the iPhone’s Activity application, you will be able to compare your performance with that of your friends. Here’s how to use your Apple Watch’s activity sharing feature.
Set up activity sharing from iPhone
When you return to sport after a long period of inactivity, the most difficult thing is to stay motivated. It is well known that good resolutions usually only last a few weeks. Willpower alone is not always enough.
To stick with time, you need to set goals for yourself. It is important to make sense of your efforts. The rings in the Activity application will help you track your daily efforts (movements, exercises and time spent standing).
To motivate yourself even more why not try to find a training partner. Team spirit galvanizes and encourages athletes to surpass themselves. An American study conducted by Johns Hopkins in 2015 shows that you are seven times more likely to continue playing sports when there are two of you than alone.
If you can’t find a sports partner near you, why not use the activity sharing feature of your Apple watch. Friends, family, colleagues, there is bound to be someone around you who practices physical activity.
- Open the activity app on your iPhone
- Make sure your Apple Watch is near your smartphone
- Tap the share tab
- Click the red + icon located in the upper right corner of the screen
- Enter a friend’s name or select a contact directly from your address book
- Press the send invitation button
- Then wait for your future sports partners to accept your invitation
You can add up to 40 friends to your sharing list. The invitation is in the form of a notification with two buttons (accept or decline). Once the stage has been validated, you can follow your friends’ sports performances and even challenge them.
What data is shared by the application
Two-person sport increases motivation. However, this should not be done to the detriment of your privacy. In this section, we’ll see what kind of data your friends will be able to access.
- Distance traveled
- Calories burned
- Visualization of activity rings (move, train, get up)
- Activity hours
- Measures (such as the number of steps)
The Activity app just like your Apple Watch will not share any personal and confidential information. Your friends will not be able to consult your health data (heart rate, weight, sleep data etc.) or even your activity data older than 7 days.
To view the activity data of one of your friends, all you have to do is launch the application and then click on the sharing tab. Then select the person whose activity profile you want to view from the list.
From this screen, you can send them a message of encouragement, block their activity notifications or remove them from your sharing list. The info button placed in the upper right corner gives you access to his business card.
