Sonos continues to offer some of the best multi-room speakers available, but sometimes you need to reset your Sonos speaker.

Sonos speakers are certainly not error-proof and like anything else, sometimes you’ll need to do a good old-fashioned reset.

Whether you need to reset your Sonos One, Sonos Arc, Sonos Beam, or any other Sonos device, sometimes a basic reset will do the trick, but in some cases you will need to perform a full reboot i.e. a hard reset or a factory reset for your Sonos speakers.

We’ll walk you through both. The process will also depend on which Sonos speaker you are trying to restart.

The classic off-on method is your friend here. Well, sort of. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Remove the power cord from the back of the outlet or from the Sonos speaker itself.
2. Wait 10 seconds for the speaker to turn off completely.
3. Reconnect it.
4. Give the speaker about a minute to turn back on.

For a lot of problems, this method should do the trick. But if it doesn’t, it’s time to do a factory reset.

If the issues persist or you just want to erase your Sonos speaker so you can register it to a different account, you’ll need to take more drastic action. Note that this process is different depending on the speaker.
