PowerToys is a handy application that offers a large number of tools to improve the usability of Windows 10. Among the tools, the application also includes a keyboard manager that allows you to remap keys and even keyboard shortcuts.

While most users do not need to remap the keys on the keyboard, this is something that may be necessary from time to time, if a particular key unexpectedly breaks on the keyboard, the current layout feels uncomfortable, or you have to remap a key (or keyboard shortcut) to use a specific feature on an app.

Whatever the reason it might be, the PowerToys Keyboard Manager makes it easy to remap keys on Windows 10.

In this guide, you will learn the steps to remap a keyboard key or shortcut on Windows 10.

To remap a keyboard key on Windows 10, use these steps:

  1. Open PowerToys.
  2. Click on Keyboard Manager.
  3. Activate the Enable Keyboard toggle switch Manager.

  5. Click on the Plus (+) button.
  6. Under the “Original key” section (left), select a key using the drop-down menu or by clicking the Type button Key.

  8. Click on the OK button.
  9. Click on the Continue button anyway.

Once you have completed the steps, the key will be remapped to the new key.

Unless you re-start the action of the original key from another key, you will not be able to use it. For example, if you remapping the left shift key to be the new Windows key, that Shift key will no longer act as a Shift key.

If you want to remove the key card, use the same instructions described above, but on step n ° 5, Click on the button Remove (trash can) on the right side, and click the button OKAY.

To re-start a keyboard shortcut on Windows 10, use these steps:

  1. Open PowerToys.
  2. Click on Keyboard Manager.
