You want to record a phone conversation on your iPhone for business or personal use. iOS is full of useful features but does not offer this feature which is not as easy to access as you might think. In this tutorial we will see how to do this with one of the best apps on the App Store to record your phone calls.

Apple having placed restrictions on this functionality, the available solutions exploit a workaround linked to tripartite telephone conversations. This is the case with the TapeACall application which uses conference calling services to merge and record calls. First, make sure that your operator allows conference calling.

  • First start by downloading TapeACall Lite on the App Store
  • To record a call, open the app then press the central record button
  • Wait a few seconds and press the button Add call then find the contact one you want to call in the directory to add it to the conversation or simply dial its number
  • Now press the button Merge to start recording the actual call
  • Once the call is over, hang up and everything is played. The conversation is displayed in the list of recorded calls

When it comes to incoming calls, the process is simple and similar. When you get a call you want to record, first open TapeACall and press the center record button. The incoming call will be put on hold for a few seconds. Push the button Merge as soon as it activates on your screen to create a conference (tripartite call with your correspondent and the TapeACall recording server. Your telephone conversation will then be recorded.

Finally, note that the application is available for free, but with some limitations. A premium version, TapeACall Pro, is available for € 11.99.
