Albedo is the last Genshin impact character and saving grace of the element Geo. Undoubtedly one of the weakest elements Genshin, Geo has been struggling for some time, with Zhongli failing in many areas and earning his place as a low-level hybrid. Albedo is the chief alchemist, captain of the Knights of Favonius investigative team, and mentor to lovable scientist Sucrose.
Sadly and to the desperation of players, Albedo is a five star character. But fear not, as his skills live up to expectations and Albedo is a capable DPS.
Albedo attacks and skills
Attack: Favonius Bladework Weiss – Albedo’s main attack is nothing out of the ordinary. It has a base chain of 5 hits with the sword, which can be charged to unleash two powerful strikes. His diving attack will deal base AoE damage and will not trigger any elemental reactions.
Elementary Skill: Abiogenesis: Solar Isotome – Albedo will create a flower with the alchemy that will inflict Geo damage to anyone in an area, regardless of the character on the field. If enemies are in the Solar Isotome’s area of effect and are hit or attacked, transient flowers will appear, dealing geographic damage to all nearby enemies. Solar isotomes can also be trampled, creating a Geo platform in the air.
Elemental Blast: Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide – Albedo’s Elemental Explosion is another addition to the list of absurd damage-dealing AoE abilities that make it easier to clear the Spiral Abyss. For this ability, Albedo will summon Geo Crystals from the earth, dealing elemental damage. If there is an active Solar Isotome when Rite of Progeniture is used, seven Fatal Flowers are generated, bursting into crystals as they bloom and dealing even more AoE Geo damage. During the duration of the elemental explosion, however, the transient flowers will not appear.
Passive albedo talents
Awakening: Ascension 1 – Transient Flowers Generated by Abiogenesis: Solar Isotomes deal 25% more DMG to enemies with HP below 50%.
Hunger: Ascension 4 – Use Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide increases the Elemental Mastery of nearby party members by 125 for 10 seconds.
Flash of Genius: When Albedo makes Weapon Ascension Materials, he has a 10% chance to receive double the proceeds.
C1: Flower of Eden – Transient flowers generated by albedo abiogenesis: the solar isotome regenerates 1.2 energy for albedo.
C2: Opening of the Phanerozoic Transient Flowers Generated by Abiogenesis: The Solar Isotome grants Albedo Fatal Reckoning for 30 seconds. Each stack of Fatal Calculation increases Albedo’s damage based on his defense. Releasing the elemental skill consumes all charges of Fatal Calculation and increases the damage dealt by Tectonic Tide.
C3: Grace of Helios– Increases the level of Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma by 3. The maximum upgrade level is 15.
C4: Descent of Divinity- Solar Isotoma increases Dive Attack DMG by 30% for active party members within the area.
C5: Hadaen tide– Increases the level of Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide by 3. The maximum upgrade level is 15.
C6: Purification dust– If active party members in AoE are protected by a shield created by Crystallize, Solar Isotoma increases their DMG by 17%.
Artifacts and albedo constructions
If you don’t stack Albedo as a Geo damage dealer, you are misusing him. Albedo’s true power comes from the combination of his elemental skill, elemental explosion, and your party’s AoE damage abilities. Festering Desire is an ideal sword for Albedo, increasing elemental skill damage on a scale from 16 to 32%. The sword will also increase the CRIT rate of the elemental skill, but that’s less important, especially if you plan to upgrade to a more consistent damage dealer after using the elemental blast or skill. The two ideal artifacts to use on Albedo are Noblesse Oblige and Archaic Petra if you can acquire the latter with a decent roll. Don’t be afraid to use artifacts that boost her defense as this will increase the damage dealt by transient flowers. The two stack bonus on Noblesse Oblige causes Elemental Burst to increase damage by 20%, and the four stack bonus is that using an Elemental Burst increases the attack of all party members by 20. % for 12s. The four stack bonus is useful if you are using Albedo to place the solar isotome and switch to someone like Venti, Diluc, or Beidou. Archaic Petra’s two-set bonus is a 15% geographic damage buff, but getting two coins to get the bonus can turn into an Easter Egg Hunt with a lot of repetition.
There’s been a need for a decent Geo character for quite some time, and now we have Albedo. Even though he’s a five-star character, Albedo makes up for it with huge AoE potential and a skill set that opts for switching and tanking damage to increase Geo reactions.
