  • iOS and Android: Tap menu icon in the upper or lower right corner, and then select Settings & Privacy > Fashion dark> We.

This article explains how to enable dark mode on Facebook site, Facebook app for iOS and Android, Google Chrome, and other chrome-based browsers.

Dark mode on Facebook flips the white and blue color scheme against a dark gray background with white text. Dark mode creates a darker screen that reduces eye strain (and saves battery life). Here’s how to activate it from a browser:

  1. Open the Facebook site and log in.
  2. Click on the downward arrow in the upper right corner.
  3. Click on Display preferences.
  4. Under dark mode, select We.

How to activate dark mode on Facebook for Android

Dark Mode is not currently available to everyone on the Facebook Android app. However, if it’s available to you, here’s how to turn it on:

  1. Launch the Facebook app.
  2. Press on icon menu (three horizontal lines) in the upper right corner.
  3. Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy.
  4. Press on Dark Mode.
  5. Under dark mode, select We.

If Dark Mode is available to you on the Facebook iOS app, here’s how to activate it:

  1. Launch the Facebook app.
  2. Press on icon menu (three horizontal lines) in the lower right corner.
  3. Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy.
  4. Press on Dark Mode.
  5. Under dark mode, select We.

If you don’t have access to Dark Mode on Facebook, there is a workaround if you are using a chrome-based web browser like Google Chrome or Brave.

Applying dark mode in chrome forces dark mode to turn on for other websites, so only use it if you are looking for the full dark mode experience on the internet.

This method works on Chrome and other chrome-based browsers like Edge and Brave, and it works on any platform where you can use those browsers.

To force dark mode in Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome, or any chrome-based browser, and go to chrome: // flags / # enable-force-dark.
  2. Select Enabled from the drop-down menu next to Force Dark Mode for content Web.
  3. Select Revive in the lower right corner. The relaunch closes and restarts Chrome. If you are working on anything in another Chrome tab, save it and close it before clicking on Relaunch.
  4. Facebook and other sites display in dark mode. Even though Dark Mode is off, Facebook still appears in Dark Mode.

Who can use Dark Mode on Facebook?

Dark Mode is accessible to everyone on the Facebook site and the Facebook Lite application. While dark mode is not currently available to everyone who uses the main Facebook app, the feature will eventually become available to all Facebook users.
