There are times when the microphone on your computer running Ubuntu stops working and the people you are talking to could not hear you while using Skype or other voicemail applications.

We often encounter this kind of problem in a linux system and the most common is where the audio sound from the speakers is missing in the system. This is not our case today (maybe in a future article) but we will try to explain to you how to quickly fix your microphone problem on Skype for Ubuntu.

This only two-step solution really helped me fix and fix this microphone problem that no longer worked on Skype freshly installed on my Ubuntu. I’ll share with you then how and let me know if the trick also works for you in the comments section at the bottom of the article.

Step 1 :
Launch your terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) in Ubuntu and type the following commands:

2nd step :
An audio and video settings window opens, in the audio tab we have the default audio input settings (Default Input). In this section, the parameter Plugin is set to Custom by default. Try changing this setting and select instead ALSA – Advanced Linux Sound Architecture and close the window (Close)

And that’s all I did to fix my mic problem, I hope it works for you too!
