How to change the default web browser on iPhone and iPad
When Apple launched iOS 14 and iPadOS14, it made a change that allows you to use browsers third-party apps as default apps, meaning that users who don’t use Apple’s native Safari browser can choose an alternative and it will be opened automatically as soon as the system requires.
Many third-party browsers now support the ability to become the default app, including Chrome, Firefox, and DuckDuckGo. You can now choose your preferred browser and it will be used to automatically open the links of web pages which are used in other applications. Here’s how to set the default web browser in iOS 14.
- Launch the application ” Settings » on your iPhone or iPad.
- Scroll through the list of third-party apps and touch the browser you want to use (for example, DuckDuckGo).
- Tap on Default Browser App.
- Tap the browser you want to use by default.
A After completing these steps, any application that attempts to open a web page will launch your preferred browser instead of Safari. To change this behavior, simply repeat the steps and select Safari in the screen Default browser apps.
