How to pay and where are the games purchased on PlayStation Store. Gone are the days of waiting in line at your local game store to purchase the latest games. Launched in 2006, the PlayStation Store allowed Sony fans to purchase games for its consoles from the PS3.
In this article, we explain how to add funds to your PlayStation Wallet and then use those funds to purchase games from PlayStation Store.
What you need to know about the PlayStation Wallet
All Adult PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts have an online wallet that can be topped up using registered payment methods. At the time of creation, child accounts have a spending limit of $ 0 which can be changed by the PSN account family manager.
Although PSN Wallet funds do not expire, there are wallet limits per country or country. PSN Wallets can make purchases from PlayStation Store in the PSN region where you purchased your funds. For example, you will not be able to use the PSN Wallet funds in GBP on the US PlayStation Store or vice versa.
Now that you know the PSN Wallet, we are going to walk you through the different payment methods to pay for games on PlayStation Store.
There are three main ways to pay for games (and other items) on PlayStation Store:
- Credit / Debit Cards
- Pay Pal
- PlayStation Store Cards
Here’s how to load your PSN wallet with each method:
1. Credit or debit cards
Using your PlayStation console, navigate to Settings> Account management> Account information> Wallet> Payment methods. After entering your password, select Add a Credit or Debit Card, enter your card details and validate.
Credit and debit cards only work when your address matches the country where your PSN account is registered. You can link up to three credit or debit cards to your PlayStation Wallet.
Due to Address Verification System (AVS), users often encounter verification issues when purchasing games from the PSN store using credit or debit cards. To resolve this issue, check if your card is AVS compatible by calling your bank and be sure to enter exactly how your statement shows your address.
Also, avoid using special characters such as hyphens, apostrophes, or slashes. Write the numbered street names, remove anything that indicates a direction, and replace any special characters with the letter closest to the Latin alphabet. Even PO boxes and military addresses are currently not accepted.
If you prefer, you can link a PayPal account to your PSN account instead.
Using your PlayStation console, navigate to Settings> Account Management> Account Info> Wallet> Payment Methods> Add PayPal Account and confirm your login information.
To select Pay Pal in Payment methods, choose the top-up amount and authorize the payment.
Make sure to check the PayPal list of countries that support PSN direct payments. Remember that you can only register one PayPal account to one PSN account at a time. Alternatively, PayPal offers you the option of purchasing PlayStation Store cards directly from its website.
If your country does not allow PayPal direct payments, or if you prefer to keep your personal information private, you can choose to purchase PlayStation Store cards instead.
3. PlayStation Store Cards
To use a PlayStation Store card, go to PlayStation Store> Redeem Codes . Enter the twelve-digit code for your card and select Redeem .
You can purchase PlayStation Store cards from various retailers. Please note that some vouchers require activation by the reseller and will be valid for one year after purchase.
Now that you know all the ways you can load money into your PSN account wallet, let’s get down to the fun stuff.
From the home screen of your PlayStation, select PlayStation Store. From here you can choose from the various options in the column on the left side of the screen.
The PlayStation Store allows you to purchase games, movies, TV shows, and add-ons. If you already know which game you want to play, you can select To research and type in the title of the specific game.
If you want to browse the entire catalog of games, you can select All the games in the left column of PlayStation Store. From there you can sort the games using the buttons Add filter And Sort . Games will also be available for pre-order.
Download free games
Whether it’s a seasonal promotional campaign or a long-term deal, there are plenty of games available for free from PlayStation Store. To view the catalog of free games currently available, select Free to play in the right column.
After selecting the game you want to play from the catalog, a screen with a button will appear To download. Once you click on it, the game will start downloading immediately.
Download a paid game
Once you have selected the game you want to download from the paid catalog, a screen with a button will appear Add to cart next to the price of the game.
After selecting Add to cart, you will have the possibility to Continue your purchases Where Proceed to payment. You can add more games before continuing.
After selecting the payment method and confirming the payment, you will be able to download and play the game.
After each transaction, make sure your PSN account reflects the correct balance and check your payment history on your credit / debit card statements or on your PayPal account.
To view the payment history on your PSN account, go to Settings> Account management> Account information> Wallet> Transaction history.
How to request a refund for a purchase made on PlayStation Store
If you’ve changed your mind about a game you’ve purchased from the PSN Store, you have 14 days to request a refund. For pre-orders, you can request a refund until the official release date.
If you are not satisfied with a PlayStation subscription, you can also request a refund with the appropriate deductions based on your use of the service.
Please note that once you have downloaded or streamed your purchase, you are no longer entitled to a refund, unless the content is faulty. For any type of refund or cancellation, you can send a message to PlayStation support.
