A few days ago, Apple has deployed a new version of the software that equips its AirPods Pro. This update 3A283 comes with a feature that will allow iPhone and iPad users to experience the joys of spatial sound. The Cupertino company has been talking about this option for months, and it is finally here!
Thanks to spatial sound, Apple addicts will be able to enjoy better sound quality thanks to virtual spatialization. This new update will allow them to use AirPods Pro to listen to 5.1, 7.1 or even Dolby Atmos content.
If you are not yet familiar with spatial sound, here we show you how to activate it on your iPhone or iPad.
Technology compatible with iOS 14 or iPadOS 14
It should be noted that this technology only works on AirPods Pro. If you want to enjoy it on your smartphone, you will need at least the iPhone 7. It will also be compatible with the iPad Pro 12.9 (3e generation), iPad Pro 11 (3e generation), iPad Air (3e generation), iPad (6e generation), iPad Mini (5e generation) or more recent brand devices.
Your device should be running at least iOS 14 or iPadOS 14.
The download of the new software version on the AirPods Pro will be done automatically. To do this, you just have to connect them to their case and charge them by placing them near the device with which you want to use them. The software should download itself.
Activate spatial sound in a few clicks
Once your AirPods Pro update has downloaded, you will need to enter your device’s settings to access the “Bluetooth.” When you’re in this window, you’ll need to turn on your Bluetooth and tap the “i” icon, which is to the right of your AirPods Pro name.
After that, you can scroll down to the “Audio Spatial” function (if it does not appear, your software has not yet been updated). You will then only have to click on the activation button, placed on the right, and voila. To test this functionality, you can press the option that is just at the bottom of “Audio Spatial”, which offers to “See and listen to how it works. “
To see the difference, you can switch between stereo and spatial sound. At the moment, the spatial sound of AirPods Pro only works with content from iTunes, Apple TV +, Disney +, and HBO Max.
