Can we activate a custom screensaver on Chromebook simply. Screen savers don’t really serve a very useful purpose. However, we can’t deny how stylish our Chromebook can look with a good screen protector.

In addition, the Chrome OS screen saver can display the time, weather, and music playback. So maybe it can be useful on some occasions. A little further down, we’ll cover everything we need to do to enable a custom screensaver on Chromebook and you’ll see that it’s easier than you might imagine.

Enable custom screensaver on Chromebook

The first thing to do is click on the clock icon at the bottom right of the screen to open the Quick Settings panel. Once this panel is open, we will have to click on the gear icon, located in the upper right corner to access the full “Settings” menu.

Once we are in “Settings” we will need to click on the “Personalization” option which is located on the left sidebar of the screen.

In the customization section we will have to look for the option “Screen Saver”. In this place we will have to move the switch “On” to activate this option.

If you look at the “Background” section, we will be able to choose between “Google photos” or the Chromebook gallery. When you are done selecting a background, you can also go to the weather section to configure it the way you want.

And we don’t have to do anything else. When the device is inactive, the screen saver starts automatically.

If you want the screen to stay on so that you can display the screen saver for longer. You will just have to go to Settings> Device> Power. Here we can choose “Keep screen on when idle while charging or with battery” and that’s it.
