How to reduce WhatsApp storage space on Android?

To start, you have to go to the “Settings” section of the WhatsApp application. To access it, simply press the menu button at the top right. Once in the menu, click on “Data and Storage Usage”. This section will let you know how much storage space WhatsApp uses on your phone.

The next step is to find the list of conversations made on WhatsApp by pressing “Storage usage”. Conversations are classified according to the storage space they use.

By selecting a conversation, the number of messages, videos, images and GIFs related to it will appear. You can then click on the “Free up space” button at the bottom right of the screen and choose the type of file to delete.

Regarding the messages, the pop-up window that appears after deleting media allows you to choose whether or not you want to delete them.

Another approach for the iPhone

The steps to reduce WhatsApp storage space are a little different for iPhone.

First of all, you have to open the application and enter the “Settings” section. Once inside, choose the option “Data and storage usage”, then click on “Storage usage”.

The list of all WhatsApp conversations sorted by size can be found in this section. To see the details of a particular conversation, you must click on it then click on “Manage”.

To delete a media type, select it and press “Delete”.

Finally, to finish, also click on the “Clear” button that is in the pop-up message if you want to clear the messages.

It should be noted that it is also possible to deactivate the automatic recording function of received media, especially for those who use WhatsApp as their main messaging service. This will prevent manually deleting the files every time the memory is full.
