The 2018 and 2020 iPad Pro models don’t have one, but they do offer a nearly all-screen design.
If your iPad features one, then that means it was released in 2017 or earlier.
As for the iPad and iPad mini, they have one regardless of the model.

To identify your iPad, you can also refer to their connector, Lightning or 30-pin. The latter only applies to 3rd and 4th generation iPads.
Thanks to the photo below, see what a USB Type-C port looks like, which only iPad Pro from 2018 onwards are equipped with. The Lightning port is smaller than the 30 pin one.
It is easy to distinguish an iPad Pro from others because it is equipped with 4 speakers, located at the top and bottom.
The other models only have 2 speakers, placed to the right and left of the connectors.
IPads equipped with a Retina display offer much better resolution than the others (1st, 2nd and 3rd generation).
And, from the end of 2012 (iPad 4), this type of screen has become the norm for everyone.
3G, 4G or Wi-Fi connection
IPads also stand out for their connectivity. Some only have Wi-Fi, others combine Wi-Fi and data (via a micro-SIM card).
These were developed from the 3rd generation, at the start of 2012.
The last element that will help you identify your iPad is its storage capacity (32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB or even 1 TB).
