Nest Audio is the successor to the original Google Home from 2016. It’s not the biggest or smallest smart speaker in the Google lineup, nor the most or the cheapest, but it does offer some improved features and upgraded hardware.

When will Google Nest Audio be released?

The Nest Audio was announced on September 30, 2020. It was launched on the Google store and other retailers in France, Canada. Target, Best Buy, and other stores in 21 countries started offering the smart speaker on October 15.

Compared to the original Google Home, Nest Audio is easier to listen to. Not only is it 75% louder with bass that would be 50% louder, but it automatically adapts, thanks to a feature Google calls Media EQ, to what you’re listening to.

The same goes for Ambient IQ, which adjusts the volume of Nest Audio based on other sounds in the room. If you vacuum while listening to an audiobook, the sound will automatically increase so you can always hear it.

French customers can also benefit from faster responses with the Google Assistant than the original Google Home, as some of the assistant’s processing power can be done entirely offline on the device itself. According to Google, Nest Audio learns your most common music commands and responds twice as fast as the original Google Home.

It has a very long list of functions, but some of its strengths are listening to music and podcasts, forecasting the weather, controlling your other smart home devices, creating a shopping list, searching. online recipes and using Nest Aware to detect objects around your home, such as broken glass or a smoke detector.
