Cyberpunk 2077 is filled to the brim with side missions and activities to accomplish. When the game opens, the Cyberpunk 2077 Night City can seem a bit overwhelming.
A quick glance at Night City, you’ll be bombarded with various icons for you to check out. This will often lead you to side work or a gig to finish. On top of that, V’s phone rings off the hook. Various correctors will contact you to get help from V. Many side missions will be given to you organically as you progress through the story. Others will ask you to go to the designated starting point.
Secondary missions in Cyberpunk 2077 are divided into four main categories: side jobs, concerts, NCPD scanner shakes, and rides. In total, there are more than 300 missions and side activities to accomplish. Know your side objectives and how side missions Cyberpunk 2077 are down can be intimidating. We’ve compiled a guide so you can take a preem tour of Night City without breaking a sweat. Enjoy it, Chooms.
In Cyberpunk 2077, Side Jobs is quite strongly linked to the events of the main story. They present continuous interactions with the characters introduced in the story and develop the relationship V has with these individuals.
Side Jobs are quite meaty. Due to the amount of story and dialogue associated with each, the length can often be compared to some of the main questlines in Cyberpunk 2077. Side Jobs also gives you the most currencies. Completing Side Jobs will grant you quite a bit of XP to go towards your level progression and Street Cred.
As you progress through the main story, you will be introduced to a wide range of characters. After interacting with them, they will contact you through V’s cell phone and ask you to help them with a job. Many secondary works are divided into several parts.
For example, Panam Palmer is a character that you are introduced to once talking to Rogue Amendiares at the start of the game. After completing the “Rider on the Storm” mission, Panam’s parallel line of work will continue for a few missions. . The same can be said for characters like Judy Alvarez, River Ward, Kerry Eurodyne, and many more.
There are two things to be careful of when considering completing side tasks. The first is that many of them require some downtime between each of them. Taking another look at Panam, his second “side job with a little help from my friends” makes you wait 24 hours for his next phone call. It is best to drive and achieve other goals in the meantime.
You’ll also want to keep an eye on your posts. Characters will often text you to check in. Most of them are follow-ups that don’t need any attention. However, others will require an answer to move the plot forward.
In Cyberpunk 2077, The concerts are more of your unique mission. They are usually found in every neighborhood of Night City. Upon arriving at a concert location, one of the fixers will call you to give you an overview of the mission.
The concerts are divided into sub-categories, each with its own icon displayed on the map. You’ll find Gun for Hire, Search and Recover, Thievery, Agent Saboteur, SOS: Merc Needed, and Convoys, all available as you progress through the game. Some concerts will only appear at night while others will be available during the day. On top of that, there are 17 Cyberpsychosis Gigs to complete. You will meet them as you will for any other concert in the game.
Most of the time, you’ll have to infiltrate a compound to find an objective. Sometimes you will be tasked with freeing a hostage. Overall, all gigs follow a similar playing loop. You can go with guns or take a silent and stealthy approach.
The concerts are virtually devoid of substantial story content. They are often largely forgettable. However, gigs may be worth exploring for their simple offer of money for V. In Cyberpunk 2077, the currency is called whirlpools, and you’ll need to line your pockets for another component of the game’s secondary content.
NCPD scanner hustles
Like gigs, NCPD Scanner Hustles are largely throwaway missions. Again, you’ll come across these on the Night City map. They appear as blue icons and can be addressed as they become available. If you’re a perfectionist like me, buckle up. There is a whopping 156 NCPD Scanner Hustles to complete.
NCPD Scanner Hustles gets a little bit of history when you complete them. You will often be contacted via your phone, which, again, provides context to what you are doing.
These activities are mainly combat oriented. Of course, you can choose to approach them in a way that suits your style of play. With time sensitivity in mind, you can go for the more direct approach just to overcome them much faster.
NCPD Scanner Hustles can also provide swirls. If you focus on cleaning up one part of the card at a time, you can quickly collect a nice bonus to use on purchases.
Finally, rides are the last major category of side missions in Cyberpunk 2077. These are very passive activities in the game. As you progress, Fixers will contact you and alert you to purchase one of their vehicles.
It looks like the Fixers have no shortage of new rides and begging you to hand over the keys. However, everything comes at a cost. All vehicles must be paid for using the vortices. This is where completing side tasks, gigs, and NCPD Scanner Hustles comes in.
Rides appear on your can like Concerts and NCPD Scanner Hustles. There is not much to do when you arrive. If you’re looking to invest in a new preem drive, all you need to do is head to the driver’s side window and pay for it. If you have the required amount of whirlpools, you’ll enter and be free to go. The Rides icon will then be removed from the map, closing this objective.
It is debatable whether or not you need more than 20 vehicles at your disposal. There are more than a few flashy vehicles to choose from. However, if you’re looking for 100% completion or an associated Autojack Achievement / Trophy, you’ll want to complete all of the rides.
