There are many ways to make money in Albion online, from farming to PvP to dungeons and more, but one of my favorites is Gathering. Collecting is overlooked by many players, as few have the patience to explore the open world and collect raw materials, but today I’m going to show you why you should go for collecting., with this gathering guide for Albion online.
Why come together?
As I mentioned before, most Albion online players find the gathering boring and prefer to buy commodities from the market rather than fetch the resources themselves. What does it mean? It means an opportunity for those of us who have the patience to gather these resources.
Even low level resources can make a good profit if you know where to sell them.
Stick to one resource at a time
I know it’s very tempting to select an area and clear it of all kinds of resources, so you can sell them or craft your own gear. However, it will actually slow down your progress, or at least delay your chance to make money.
Research all the big city market demands and see which one is the most rewarding for each one. Once you’ve decided on what resource you want to collect, make sure you go all the way. I’m not saying you shouldn’t switch to another resource later, but make sure to level up and collect as much of a single resource as possible, in order to build enough fortune to keep you going as you go. and as you level up and collect other resources.
And if you need other resources in the meantime, you can always trade with friends and guild mates who gather the other resources. In a last case, you can also buy in the market.
Don’t overload your tools
A lot of Albion online players tend to use certain tools on higher level nodes, but that’s a big no-no. If you have a level 5 pickaxe, don’t go collecting level 7 nodes – this will only hamper your progress. The only reason you are gathering top level nodes is if you are collecting resources to build your top level tool. Other than that, focus on collecting resources on your own level.
When picking, use picking material
Alright, you like your badass outfit. You can keep it in the closet, because it will not bring you any benefit when collecting. Instead, buy or craft material specific to what you’re going to collect. This way you get a lot more fame points and a bonus on the resources collected.
I know it sucks that you can’t wear your combat gear, especially when you want to gather resources in dangerous places, such as red or black areas, but if you take anything other than the gathering gear it will take much more time to master this collection of resources.
Keep a mount with you at all times
If you congregate in safe areas, feel free to use an ox as they have incredible weight capacity. You can also go for the Giant Stag – it can carry less than the Ox, but it’s a lot faster.
However, when you gather in a red or black area, these two mounts aren’t good at all and will make it harder for you to survive when you need to outrun the gankers. When entering PvP areas, use an armored horse – they’re fast and strong, and they’re not very expensive.
Choose a good bag
Get yourself a really good bag. Don’t bring a 500,000 satchel into a PvP area – like I once did and regretted it very quickly – but make sure you pick a good satchel, as it will help you carry a lot more objects.
Of course, the Ox has enough weight capacity to keep you going for a long time. However, when using another Albion online riding, like the horse in armor, a good saddlebag will mean less trips to dangerous places.
Be picky with your food
Food is a picker’s best friend – especially pies. Pies greatly increase your carrying capacity and provide a collecting bonus, so be sure to keep a few pies with you at all times. You have to choose based on what you like and what you can afford. My favorites are the Pork Pie and the Frostpeak Deadeye Pie, both of which are level 7 food, offering a 15% gathering efficiency and increasing your carrying capacity by over 22%.
Learn each biome
In order to be as efficient as possible, gather the resource you are looking for in the main biome of those resources. It is quite easy to understand each biome and its resources in Albion online:
