Microsoft recently unveiled a new backup application for Windows called “Windows Backup” and which will soon allow the general public to perform backups and backups directly in the cloud.

The first version of ” Windows Backup can be retrieved right now but only for users of the Windows Inside Preview program and on the dev channel. Windows 11.

The new Windows 11 Backup app aims to help users easily move from an old PC to a new computer by restoring apps and all data in just a few clicks. But that provided you have already made a backup on the old computer with the application in question, then all you have left when starting up your new PC is to install the Windows Backup application and sign in to your Microsoft account to finally start the restore.

Microsoft has clarified that it is possible thanks to the application to backup and restore system settings and applications installed from Microsoft Store without forgetting the files synced with OneDrive as well as Wi-Fi connections and saved passwords.

However, and according to Microsoft it is not possible to restore applications downloaded and installed outside Microsoft Store (Also GOOD Android applications) and this can be considered a major inconvenience for users who prefer to install applications and software from alternative sources to the Microsoft store. Another restriction to know is that users cannot choose and select apps and settings to back up.

Finally, you should also know that backup does not support work or school accounts, so you can only use it with your personal Microsoft account.
